Psychological Triggers
After all that work, Yaro tells us that now the real work begins! - ah well, as they say, prior preparation prevents poor performance (I’m sure there were more p’s than that..)
This is the make or break time - it’s the money time as Yaro puts it, and does a brilliant job of presenting the psychology behind sales. This one is always a hard one to cover, because there’s a middle path between two extremes - and neither of the extremes work, but the middle path definitely does.
Sales 101 teaches us that people buy on emotion. It’s true. We usually do a great job of supporting that emotional decision with rational logic and reason, but the decision is always an emotional one - that’s how our minds work.
Yaro teaches some powerful techniques, which are of course open to abuse, and must be used responsibly. Triggers included and explained in detail over five pages, are:
- Social Proof - and Yaro shows 3 effective ways to use that.
- Evidential Proof - this is results driven.
- Reciprocity - very powerful.
- Risk Reversal - essential.
- Urgency - even when we know it’s a tactic, this still works.
Sidenote: I recently followed the launch of a well known marketing system. Part of the offer was a time-limited sign up - an urgency trigger. Unfortunately the time-limit was extended twice - as it expired - be careful not to upset people who have already paid as a result of the urgency trigger - reputation is everything online. That’s why social media is so powerful.
Most of this chapter is in the explanation of the triggers, and lots of examples, which bring home the effectiveness.
There’s a simple summary after that detailed section in the report, Yaro says:
“Triggers Work. Use Them”
