Yaro Starak Masterplan Review - Chapter 4

Now we’ve got the technology covered in chapter 3 of Yaro Staraks’ Membership Site Masterplan, were looking at:

Content and Pricing

This the last critical component that needs to be in place before going into pre-launch, and Yaro gives a surprising quote on where this ranks in terms of how much attention it is given by a smart marketer - this one surprised me.

Two critical questions are posed - and we are guided through answering them in the best way, again, this is where this report differs from a review etc. We are getting Yaro’s own story, what he did himself, what worked and what didn’t - the benefit of his experience without the pricetag and the pain!

Yaro is a smart marketer of course, and he shows how he modelled some of his success on Rich Schefren - by the way, Rich has a now famous and still free Internet Business Manifesto which if you haven’t read - you just must.

It’s worth mentioning again, that as Yaro writes, he talks about what he was thinking, and doing - and these are the same things we all go through - it’s great to know we’re not all that different from each other :-)

More gems of wisdom around learning lessons concerning forums, video, physical products etc.

The we get into the question of ‘What is Value?’ - we’re talking value in the context of membership site content. Yaro covers some ideas such as:

- and how to gauge accurately whether you are getting it right. The key is put very nicely:

“It is possible to deliver too much content, but it’s not possible to deliver too much value - the relationship is not linear.”

The reults will show you how you are doing - the retention rates - and Yaro gives us tips on how to keep those up.

Next we go onto pricing, and how the perceived value is the real determinant in pricing your membership. In fact, perceived value is so importan that Yaro has written specifically about it back at his blog. Perceived value in conjunction with what offer you present is the magic combination, and Yaro goes into this in depth.

- oh - and there’s a warning for all would-be-but-not-yet-successful entrepreneurs: don’t let your own fear of failure or low self-esteem affect your own perceived value of your content - Hah! - I know all about that one.. In fact, I once asked my friend Paul Martinelli (Bob Proctor’s Protege) - what would you say was the single most important factor in someones’ ability to achieve personal success? - you know what he said? - self image..  ’tis true you know..

Back to the Masterplan.. Yaro tells a great story of responding to multiple market needs by creating two versions of the content - one for premium members and one lower cost - and how that works well, and both were a big success.

A good section on Target Market [and how getting it going is more important than getting it right..] <- did I say that loud enough?  Getting it going is far more important than getting it right

The chapter finishes off with some sound advice - your market will tell you the correct price, but until you release and sell your own product, work on a the level as other similar products in similar marketplaces.
