Yaro Starak Masterplan Review - Chapter 3
Chapter 2 was about marketing - now we move onto the systems, the technology for the Membership Site Masterplan
Yaro presents a good set of questions to ask yourself before building your membership site, in fact it’s the same question he used for his successful Blog Mastermind site.
There endless options for membership software solutions, and Yaro does a good job of introducing you gently into the world of premium or protected content - the membership site software minefield!
This is another area where instead of simply looking at review sites, and choosing software based on what looks like a good choice - Yaro talks you through his own experiences - so you get the benefit of that experience. WordPress is the choice of champions - and Yaro is a champion - he outlines why he uses WordPress, the advantages and disadvantages - he uses WordPress in conjunction with a well known membership software supplier, and then talks about the pros and cons of the ‘whole package’ - but of course, using a different system integrated with WordPress changes the whole package.
Sidenote: I can see that Yaro has had problems with his supplier in terms of tight integration - I always recommend and use the WordPress plugin WishList Member - which overcomes Yaro’s biggest problems, and would save him mucho time and money.
We also get an overview of payment processors including:
- PayPal (and why you must include it as a payment option)
- 2Checkout
- ClickBank (which is great)
- PayDotCom
- 1ShoppingCart
We cover using audio and video, and discussion forums - and how WordPress makes it very easy to include this type of content. Yaro even gives us some advice on what to use for creating video easily for the membership content.
The we look at the ever-so-important area of Affiliate Management, including providers (and yes, my favourite is in there). There’s a brief section on CRM software, including an interesting note on Infusion, and who uses it:

I can say from my own (extensive) personal experience that it is very good, but nowhere as easy as WordPress to learn! 
There’s a quick rundown, and a summary of pulling it all together - and a warning of not feeling overwhelmed! - but with a simple recommendation to get started.
