After the intro review of Yaro Staraks Membership Masterplan, we’re onto Chapter 1
Chapter 1 is called Preeminence
Yaro explains this as the perception by others that you are the best at what you do, which convinces people that you are the best choice, for whatever you are offering. Yaro talks about how to create this, how it is established through things like association, proof etc.
Side note: I remember when I wrote sales copy for Bob Proctor - we talk about how important it is to choose to learn from someone who not only has done what they are teaching, but has also taught others to do the same thing - and those others have succeeded as a result of the teaching - then you can say they really know what they are talking about - and Yaro has of course successfully taught others to do these things..
What we’re really talking about is building credibility. As Yaro rightly says, without credibility or ‘preeminence’ you will struggle. Lack of preeminence exp0lains to a degree why people who have amazing skills and experience can also fail miserably - because no-one knows they have these skills - they have no ‘authoritative reputation’.
Yaro also talks about joint ventures - often made possible by a healthy preeminence. Joint ventures are a good example of leveraging your preeminence.
Then we get onto the meat of this chapter - how to build preeminence.. very sound advice. The basic concept is to create value - as Rich Schefren (a mentor of Yaro) says, give your best stuff away! By the way, value means value to your customer, not you!
Sidenote: Howard Gardner, world authority on multiple intelligences, once defined intelligence as the ability to creat value within your cultural context. That means you create value for others, within your cultural context - i.e. through the relationships you have or create with people in a common context - interest/subject/field. it’s all about relationships.
Then - a real gem - Yaro shows how he built his preeminence almost overnight - (which you can copy) and positioned himself as an expert in his field - establishing credibility and trust - take note.. then we talk about other effective ways to build preeminence - all very good stuff.
