The Innermetrix Attribute Index™

This is perhaps the most valuable Instrument of the three, in as much as it provides a wealth of information on what our natural talents are, based on how we think and make decisions.

The Dimensional Balance shows us our levels within the three dimensions of value, within an external context, and an internal context:

External - this is about the world - in effect anything that is 'not me':

  1. The Intrinsic Dimension - the 'people' dimension - feeling - the heart dimension - emotional - people first - how does this affect us all. This is the dimension in which we experience Connection to other people in the world.
  2. The Extrinsic Dimension - the 'doing' dimension - doing - the hand dimension - practical - results first - on the ground assessment. This is the dimension in which we experience Significance outside through what we do in the world.
  3. The Systemic Dimension - the 'thinking' dimension - thinking - the head dimension - structural - order first - the 60,000 ft view. This is the dimension in which we experience Certainty about our place in the world.

Internal - this is about us - in effect the thing that is 'me':

  1. The Intrinsic Dimension - self esteem - feeling - love myself. This is the dimension in which we experience Connection to and within ourselves.
  2. The Extrinsic Dimension - role awareness - doing - improve myself. This is the dimension in which we experience Significance within ourselves through what we do.
  3. The Systemic Dimension - self direction - thinking - define yourself. This is the dimension in which we experience Certainty within ourselves of our purpose in the world.

The Attribute Index can be presented in many profile formats. One of the most popular is the Leadership Profile. This simply means that a person's scores are collated and grouped in sets which show Leadership Talent. Here is a small part of the Leadership Summary graph:

Innermetrix Attribute Index - LeadershipThese categories are further broken down into individual competencies, each scored and also explained.

For example, the category description for Inspiring Others is: Embarking on difficult and uncertain journeys requires a special kind of energy in order to continue for the long term. Inspiration draws forth that special energy that can only come from an the individual. Therefore, leading others for the long term requires you are able to recognize and bring this energy. People become inspired when they start believing they have more ability than they thought they did. Therefore, a leading includes challenging people to do more than they have before, and empowering them to make efforts that will yield a positive result. Sharing hope and courage will keep people motivated to continue on with the mission, even when it seems like the goal is still a long way off.

The Category of Inspiring Others is made up of the following individual competencies:

  1. Developing Others: Evaluates a person's ability to understand the needs, interests, strengths and weaknesses of others, and to effectively use this information for the purposes of developing others.
  2. Gaining Commitment: Evaluates a person's ability to develop and invoke a self motivating attitude in his employees or co-workers in their pursuit of their goals.
  3. Leading Others: Evaluates a person's ability to organize and to motivate people into getting things accomplished in a way that makes everyone feel a sense of order and direction.
  4. Long Range Planning: Evaluates a person's ability to identify and to evaluate resources and to plan for their utilization throughout the execution of comprehensive, long-range projects.
  5. Persuading Others: Evaluates a person's ability to present his viewpoint in such a way that it is accepted by others.

In this way, we can not only assess a person's natural ability within the separate dimensions of heart, hand and head, but also look at individual competencies which are relevant to a specific role or job.

Unlike the DISC and Values, where we can group and categorise your results to show you trends and patterns, the Attribute Index results are totally unique to you - and so require personal interpretation. For those same reasons, the Attribute Index is most effectively used within the context of a specific goal, rather than providing generic information.
